Message from the Head of School
We welcome your interest in Andover School of Montessori (ASM). Viewing the movie on our website, will give you some ideas about the spirit of our school, yet for a more complete picture, I encourage you to see the school in action. At ASM you will find students engaged in learning activities that interest them and foster a sense of independence, responsibility, and joy in learning. In classroom projects and curriculum, there is a visible commitment to the Montessori values of collaboration, respect and serving the needs of the different communities that we are connected to as citizens of an interdependent world.
When you visit you will see students focused on learning activities and materials that have been carefully prepared, by their teachers, to stimulate critical thinking and problem solving in all subjects areas. As much as possible, this learning occurs in a hands-on approach, since we know how important it is to engage students in active learning that solidifies their understanding and love of reading, writing, mathematics, the sciences and the arts.
The collaboration that exists between staff and parents creates unique working relationships at school. I find the opportunity to work with parents a special source of energy and advice. Whether we are planning school field trips, parent workshops, fund raisers, or the policies that guide the school, the participation of parents at ASM is key to the success of our many school programs.
So, we welcome your visit and look forward to becoming better acquainted with you and your family. Yvonne Howard, our Director of Admissions, is available to answer any further questions that you may have.
Sincerely,
Susan E. Kluver,
Head of School
