Children’s House Summer Session 2012

We would like to share with you some exciting programming changes that will be offered this summer. This year we will be offering a full day program from 8:30-3:00. Parents will still have the option to sign up for just the morning session however it will NOW include lunch. The hours for  the morning session will be from 8:30-12:30. Sign up for either a full week of full day or a full week of mornings only will be required. The program will be competitively priced with specific pricing information coming soon.

Once again, this year we will offer four one week sessions (Monday-Friday). Each session will be staffed with two Children’s House teachers. The specific staffing schedule will be coming soon. All four weeks of the program will be held in Children’s House Two (the Extended Day classroom).

For current students, the summer program is a Montessori prepared environment for 3 to 6 year olds. This program provides students the opportunity to continue their Montessori lessons through the summer. In addition, it affords students who will be joining the Extended Day classroom in the fall, the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the environment and the teachers. This exposure is extremely beneficial to the transition process in the fall.

For students newly accepted into the Children’s House community, it provides an overview of the Montessori classroom. This overview includes introductory lessons to materials and participation in some of the daily routines. Additionally, the summer session allows new students to develop friendships.  The summer session is extremely valuable to students who have struggled with separation as well as those who have never been through the separation process.

We hope that these changes will better meet the needs of our families.

Elementary Camp at ASM - New Summer of 2012!!!!

We are planning to offer a one week full day camp here at ASM for elementary students entering grades 1 through 5 this August 20 -24.  The focus of this camp will be to assist students in refreshing their academic skills through theme based activities and outings in the local area.  Examples of outings may include trips to museums, parks or nature trails.  It will be a great opportunity for your child to ease back into the school setting and to feel ready to start back to school in September without worrying about whether or not they remember their letters, numbers or long division!

For parents, it is a great opportunity for one week of childcare during a time frame that is not commonly offered as a camp week in our local area.  Most importantly, it’s a chance for your child to socialize with both peers and students of other ages in an elementary setting, to have fun and refresh academic math and language skills through fun activities that will relate to themes found in our Montessori classrooms such as nature, prehistoric life, and world cultures.

Please let us know if you would possibly be interested in our camp as it will help us plan for it!  Fill out this form and drop it off at the front desk, or email the enrichment coordinator, Julie Schmitt at  jschmitt@andovermontessori.org regarding your interest.  Your feedback is important to us.  Thank you!
